Rock Hall-of-Famer Rick Allen brings art to Atlanta
ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) – He’s best known as the drummer for superstar rock band Def Leppard, appearing on iconic hits including “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and the chart-topping “Love Bites.” Now, Rick Allen is showcasing a different side of his creativity here in Atlanta, bringing his unique visual art to Buckhead’s Wentworth Gallery.
Rick Allen: Legends & Dreams 2019 is making its Atlanta premiere at Wentworth Gallery in Phipps Plaza this Saturday, May 4 — including an appearance by the artist himself. While Allen is known to fans around the world for his music, he’s been showing his visual art since 2012, when he debuted a sold-out collection of 300 pieces. This new collection features original works, limited editions, and new portraits of fellow rock icons Janis Joplin and Tom Petty, and a portion of the proceeds goes to his Raven Drum Foundation’s Project Resiliency, which serves to educate and empower veterans. Allen, meanwhile, has been inspiring and empowering fans for decades, after overcoming a car accident and the amputation of his left arm in late 1984. Not only did Allen continue with his music career, but he and Def Leppard became one of the most successful rock acts ever, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just this year.
