Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen’s artistic talents will be on display at a pair of new exhibits opening this Saturday, March 17, at Wentworth Gallery locations at the Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, Maryland, and Tysons Galleria in McLean, Virginia. The exhibitions will include pieces from the new “Rick Allen: Legends” collection, which features portraits of various musicians that the veteran British rocker admires.
“These individuals are my personal heroes, as well as heroes to so many countless people around the globe,” says Rick. “It is through all of us that their spirits live on and continue to influence and shape our experience and inspire our hearts to dream of a limitless world.”
Allen will be making appearances at both events, which are scheduled to take place, respectively, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET in Bethesda and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET in McLean.
The “Legends” collection features original acrylic paintings on canvas and mixed media. Pieces from Allen’s “Drums for Peace” and “Art to Wear” collections also will be on display at the galleries.
Part of the proceeds from the art sold at the exhibits will benefit Project Resiliency’s Warrior Resiliency Program, an initiative sponsored by Rick’s Raven Drum Foundation that seeks to support, educate and empower military veterans and people in crisis.
As previously reported, Allen and Def Leppard will be hitting the road with Journey this year for a major North American tour kicking off May 21 in Hartford, Connecticut.
