Relevant Secures The Indianapolis Star In Support Of This Weekend’s Peter Max Exhibition
The artist who painted Taylor Swift’s famous portrait has an exhibit of Indianapolis icons
Iconic pop art artist Peter Max may have grown up in Shanghai, Israel, Paris and New York City, but his Indianapolis ties are strong.
He has visited several times, even serving as the “Official Artist” of the 2003 Indianapolis 500. And each time he comes, he creates a piece that paints a Hoosier favorite — the skyline, a Colts helmet or Dale Earnhardt’s Indy 500 car — in his singular style streaked with subtly shaded in not-so-subtle neon oranges, blues, greens and pinks.
He even created an IndyStar Living cover with the Indiana state flag in 2016.
