Legendary pop artist Peter Max will be in Seattle this weekend to promote his new exhibition, Peter Max: A Retrospective | 1960-2015. It’s currently on display on the second level of Pacific Place in downtown Seattle and runs through August 23, 2015.

The exhibition features 125 original works, including the Berlin born pop artist’s best known and iconic pieces. Among them are the Statue of Liberty, Flag, Umbrella Man and Cosmic Runner. There are also a number of celebrity portraits in the exhibition, along with such ‘localized’ pieces as Cosmic Seattle (seen here) and the painted Seattle Seahawks Helmet. All purchased works of art will be signed and dedicated by the artist.

Max has a connection with the Pacific Northwest. The US Postal Service commissioned the artist to create a 10-cent postage stamp to commemorate the Expo ’74 World’s Fair in Spokane, WA. Max drew a colorful psychedelic scene with a cosmic jumper and a smiling sage against a backdrop of a cloud, run rays and a ship at sea. All were tied into the theme of ‘Preserve the Environment.’
