The ceremony will feature remarks from notable speakers including Ivan Wilzig, Commissioner Laura Dominguez, and former Commissioner and lead sponsor of the renaming resolution Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, who will join community members, cultural leaders, and supporters in recognizing Naomi Wilzig’s enduring contributions. Helmut Schuster, renowned curator and director of the museum, will also be present and will lead a special guided tour of the museum at the ceremony’s close.
This special event celebrates the life and impact of Naomi Wilzig, a passionate advocate for women’s rights and a pioneering cultural figure whose work helped shape Miami Beach’s artistic identity. As the founder of the World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM), Wilzig established a globally recognized institution dedicated to preserving and elevating erotic art as a significant artistic genre.
Founded in 2005 and located in the heart of South Beach, WEAM is the only museum in the United States devoted exclusively to fine erotic art. Its collection includes more than 4,000 works spanning from 300 BCE to the present, representing a diverse and distinguished range of international artists and cultural perspectives. In a relatively short time, WEAM has earned a reputation as one of the world’s most prominent museums of its kind.
WEAM is part of The WILZIG, an international hub for art and culture in Miami Beach, and continues to grow as a dynamic institution supported by Naomi Wilzig’s family, including her children and grandchildren, who carry forward her vision.
The street naming dedication serves not only as a tribute to Naomi Wilzig’s legacy but also as a recognition of her profound influence on the cultural fabric of Miami Beach.

About the World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM)
Located at 1205 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach, WEAM houses an expansive and internationally acclaimed collection of erotic art. Founded on Naomi Wilzig’s personal collection, the museum continues to serve as a unique cultural institution dedicated to artistic expression, historical preservation, and global dialogue through art.
The WEAM presents a reimagining of Naomi Wilzig’s groundbreaking private collection of erotic art. This new installation marks the first time the recent acquisitions will be presented to the public. Many of the works on display from Naomi Wilzig’s collection have never been seen before.
A new gallery is dedicated to the work and collection of Magnus Hirschfeld, a German sex researcher whose art collection and library were burned by the Nazis in 1933.
Humboldt University in Berlin holds most of Hirschfeld’s archives, and his legacy influenced the collections of both Alfred Kinsey and Naomi Wilzig.
Founded on the collection of Naomi Wilzig and with the help and warm support of the children and grandchildren of the founder Naomi Wilzig, WEAM is today an ever-growing institution devoted to erotic art.
