Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Michael Cartellone received a good dose of art while growing up in Cleveland. As a kid, he took a field trip to the Salvador Dali Museum, which was based here at the time, and had an epiphany.
Last month, we spoke with photographer (and former Playboy contributor) Douglas Kirkland in the days leading up to his 50-year retrospective in Los Angeles, which featured iconic images of everyone from a sun-kissed Brigitte Bardot playing cards on a Mexico floor in 1965, to a toothy Jack Nicholson gripping his Oscar statuette in ‘75.

A selection of work from the Argillet collection, featuring Dali’s copper etchings from 1934 to 1973 — as well as watercolors, drawings and tapestries — will be available for viewing at CV Art and Frame in Zionsville starting May 6. Argillet herself will be at the gallery May 12 and 13 to talk about her encounters with the artist, who died in 1989.
